Two women riding home from a cherry-picking outing were thrown from a buggy when its dress became entangled in a wheel. Mrs Blanche Hardesty died within twenty minutes from a fractured skull and other injuries. Mrs Ida Wright, who was driving at the time, escaped serious harm and was up and about later that day. The horse was captured by Rev George B Jones who was visiting local relatives.
County assembly officials met Thursday to set October 14 as the date for the county meeting here. Seven of nine lodges were represented in planning two sessions with afternoon and evening programs. Rebekah Assembly officers will attend and discuss full program details.
Paul W. Ward son of Rev. A L Ward pastor of Central Christian Church has been appointed editor of the Bader Collegian for the coming year by the college faculty. Ward belongs to Phi Delta Theta and Tau Kappa Alpha fraternities.
Miss Wanda Hatchens daughter of David Hatchens Sheridan business leader eloped with Damex New secretary of Home Brewing Company Indianapolis. They tried to obtain a marriage license at Noblesville but were refused after suspicion. The couple wed in Louisville Kentucky after driving from Sheridan. Hatchens mother heads local W C T U. bride is a college graduate and social figure.
Lewis Weidner age 22 and Anna Wagner age 30 wed Wednesday afternoon in Noblesville. The bride is daughter of Mack Wagner of Sheridan and the groom serves in the U S Army. They will visit the bride’s parents before heading to Madison Barracks New York where he is stationed.
Charles F. McClaine's grocery at Advance was burglarized on a Tuesday night. Tobacco and cigars and a few other articles were taken, valued at about six dollars.
John Mckinsry Sutton, a 73 year old retired farmer from Frankfort, Indiana, died at his home after an apo plexy attack while returning from town. Born February 13, 1840 in Clinton county, he served in the Civil War with Company G, 10th Indiana, and was a lifelong Methodist and G A T member. He leaves an adopted daughter, Mrs Mina M Nichols, with all other relatives predeceased. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
Mira Lora Hussey will tour Europe starting June 21 with a group from Milford Connecticut. The trip is a three month voyage to Europe with chaperone Ada L. Shell of Mount Holyoke. Also noted is a social by the Agoga class of the First Baptist Church inviting single members to bring a date.
Governor Ralston has received a request from Masiji Miyakawa editor of the New York Japan Review to publish part of the speech he delivered to Indiana University law graduates. Miyakawa, a graduate of Indiana, says the magazine serves a wide Japanese readership in the United States and aims to enlighten his people about American institutions.
Big crowds enjoyed a screen reproduction of local life in Lebanon at the Olympic theatre Thursday night. Cameras captured residents in familiar scenes from the city’s streets industries churches and public buildings. Audiences planned multiple viewings as events from the fire department to court house and churches played on screen with clear photography and life like detail. The program continues with three more performances including tonight and Saturday matinee and night.
The Ward pastor will host a ster eopticon lecture at 6 40 PM Sunday showing views of Japan China Africa India and the Philippine Islands. Special services follow at 7 90 PM with songs by Fanny J Crosby. Dr O C Higgins will interpret the Pageant of Darkness and Light witnessed in Chicago, a repeat request after a well received presentation last Sunday.
The Antioch Sunday echoe picnic is set for tomorrow at Mundell grove near Simpson's stop on the T. H. and B. irac tom Hine line. Local residents are invited to attend the community gathering with family activities and refreshments planned.
Frank M Dalets, a well known Lebanon restaurant owner for 21 years, died after seven months of illness. He was 46 years old, born in Hendricks County, married Myrtle Dale in 1901, and is survived by widow Myrtle and two sons Lowell and Rex, plus many relatives. Funeral at White residence with Rev. F L Hardy, burial Oak Hill cemetery, Red Men in charge.
In the Mick will trial two witnesses Milton Hawkins and Charles Nichol son testified again this morning with new details of Mick's eccentric business and social behavior. They affirmed their opinion that Mick was of unsound mind. James Wilson rental agent and Charles Nichoson contractor testified yesterday afternoon. An inventory by Charles J. Cherry showed 85 percent of Mick's large library consisted of religious books.
Monroe Bush relocates from Lebanon to a farm southwest of Lebanon with new Rural Route 12 address. Dr. Guy A Schnitz traveled to Martinsville this afternoon for rheumatism treatment.
The Board of Review made corrections in several townships. Deductions include 150 to Chas H Bean for a horse loss, 199 added to Guy F Davis for livestock underassessment, and 125 deducted from George W Grover for cattle deaths. George W Norwood’s Hat list gained 400, Lebanon Stable Supply Co. listed at 1926, Phorstown Grain Co. at 2535 with township-accepted corrections, and 155 deducted from E A Morris for three steer and one calf death in Center township.
Bertis Nisley fell about twenty feet while picking cherries at Win Caldwell’s Advance home. He sustained severe bruising but no broken bones were reported.
Troop Two led by Scout Master R Everette Lucas prepares for a lengthier camp in Jefferson Township. About eighty acres of woodland one mile south of Brown's Stop will host first aid drills signaling observation and forest guide training over three to five days in late June or early July. Parents must sign permissions at the meeting tonight, with tents and gear discussed and potential guest speakers for evenings.

Leslie Verne Witt, 21 years old, son of James A Witt formerly of this county now in Tennessee, drowned while bathing at Laughner gravel pit west of Whitestown around 3 30 Thursday. Four companions unable to swim struggled to help as Witt sank in nine feet of water. His body recovered after an hour. a rope and grappling hook aided pulling him to surface. Inquest ordered. He recently returned from Memphis to visit relatives and had been hired as an electrician at the Central Hospital in Indianapolis, set to begin work next Monday. Survived by half brother Arthur, sister Bernice Opal Lotland, and half sister Ruth Witt. Funeral plans not announced.
