A federal appeals court ordered the Washington Post to halt publishing a Pentagon study series on the Vietnam War origins citing potential irreparable harm. The ruling came after Judge Gesell had refused a similar request, and the paper planned to pause further releases while a new hearing is set by Monday.
Lebanon Rotary Club hosted the 1971 Assembly of District 656 Rotary International at the Senior High School with 152 attendance. Morning opened with the Star Spangled Banner played by 7th grader Bret Swisher, and reports from Dr. George E. Davis and Don Wickster on hospital and legislative topics. District leaders Wallace and Shoemaker spoke, a new member Rev Harry Thompson was inducted, and afternoon sessions focused on membership development and new clubs within the district.

He saved money fast, charges 25 cents in advance, and advises on proper rag use and credit prudence. He plays Star Pharmacy Little League when not working and aims to join a service club someday while balancing school.
United Press International reports Indiana’s weekend count continuing as 693 fatalities for the year, up from 608 a year earlier. Hazel Weaver, 80, of Wanaka, died after being struck on a Ligonier street. Earl Hillyard, 57, Cromwell, the driver, also died but was said to have died from a heart attack.
The body of 3 year old Bryan Zecher was found in Pleasant Run Creek near Indianapolis after an extensive search. Authorities said the child likely drowned with no signs of foul play. His father Richard Zecher once played as a defensive tackle for the former Indianapolis Capitols. Police investigated kidnapping possibilities while confirming the lad was last seen near his home Thursday evening wearing a red, white and blue outfit. A station attendant misidentified a sighting, and another crank call was noted. A helicopter aided the search as hundreds of officers and volunteers scoured the area.
Union members from Local 4911 plan a Monday meeting in the American Legion building to discuss a Friday offer from Stewart Warner Corp. The session follows three FMIS-ordered talks and marks the 12th week of the strike in Indianapolis. Union officials note the start time and venue are not yet finalized and urge members to contact them for details.

Jean Jackson, sponsored by Lions Club, renowned cook and artist, active in church, PTA, BUFFY, Home Demonstration, and extensive Scouting leadership. husband Byron and two children Tim and Janis.
