The Old Boys of Thorntown plan their third biennial reunion starting August 20. Invitations urge former residents to attend, recalling childhood haunts and stories. Events run Aug 20 arrival, Aug 21 reception, Aug 22 carnival, with tours of riverbanks, log sitting spots, and the academy site.
A party of editors departed for England following a reading tour by French and English authorities. The visit, arranged by the German Friendship Committee, aims to Windford on Avon Cambridge and other key places in London as part of planned exchanges.
Five top members of Purdue University class of 1906 sign a formal contract proposing a future partnership. Originator Rudolph W. Rusterholz and signees Harry J Hair Roy Shackleton Clarence Sale and David M Allen agree to work separately for up to fifteen years before uniting in a jointly owned industrial venture.
The Atlanta tinplate mill in Naoiesville Indiana has been sold by receiver A Ford to John L McKee of Indianapolis as trustee. Indianapolis Atlanta Kokomo investors formed the purchasing group with a total price of 56750, about 84000 less than the old companys indebtedness. The largest claim is a 20000 mortgage held by Rev William PD Parr Kokomo, a former major stockholder. The new firm expects to complete and operate the mill this summer, an investment of 200000 creating 490 jobs. the venture began three years ago though machinery largely idle for lack of working capital.
The convention held a brief morning session in Parlayvernia and adjourned to ride down the Delaware river. A notable parade is planned with Philadelphia Camden and other city organizations in line. Adjutant General Stewart will act as grand marshal and Speakers Cannon and leaders will review. Several Fremont Dayton voters from 1850 in the parade.
Ken Wisa of Minnesota reports discovering a freshwater pearl in a clam shell. The gem is claimed to be the largest of its kind and valued as high as 100000 dollars. William Bates and Ester are mentioned in connection to the find.
City Council held an adjourned meeting as the city engineer presented Meridian and East street grade reports from Fordice to Elizaville roads. The panel approved the findings and praised the lamp system noting improvements and a June 12 lighting inspection by Prof. Esterline of Purdue at Mr. Wing and Mr. Edwards request.

Stewart notes Illinois Supreme Court affirmed a lower court ruling in the Hudelson will case, valuing the estate at $200,000 and to be divided among about 35 heirs, including Princeton residents. A sensational dispatch alleging a court-sale scheme is dismissed as untrue by Flora lawyers.

Earnest Hoffman an aged cripple at 1050 West Eighteenth street fired into a crowd of boys, wounding 19 year old Henry Kubler at 491 West Eighteenth street. Kubler was taken to the county hospital as Hoffman is held awaiting word on the injury outcome.
Ohio Governor John M. Pattison died at 4 20 pm at his Milford country home after a six month battle with kidney trouble and nervous prostration from the recent campaign. Funeral planned from Promont Milford Thursday afternoon as Republicans solidify control of the state with his passing.
Louisville June 1. John Bower declared he would kill himself after four attempts by drowning in a park lake. He was pulled from the water by passersby on three occasions and finally detained at the police station. He has suffered ill health for some time.

The Rev Demetrius Tillotson and Asbury Pineh rode a horse that bolted turning into a brisk gallop through Meridan and East streets before being stopped. Tillotson accepted congratulations but declined an encore and resumed the horse to its owner.
