Four contestants are introduced for the Mrs Boone Pageant with Mrs David Carney as chairman and Donald R Peyton as master of ceremonies. A public reception follows hosted by ESA sorority with multiple chairmen. Finalists receive silver charms from the July 4th committee. awards go to congeniality and other sponsors.

Ambulance Serv Responds To Rash Of Local Accidents
Five people were injured in city and county crashes on Tuesday. A motorcyclist, Thomas Derrickson, 20, was hit by Barbara Pennington, 39, as she pulled from a parking lot. his Honda was wrecked. James Hildebrand, 21, crashed into a concrete bridge abutment, suffering facial injuries. passenger Douglas Weber, 16, received scalp wounds. Darel Selvey, 28, reportedly fell asleep and hit a tree, with possible fractures. Paul Walker, four, was run over by a tractor.

Court ruling ends state and local bar minimum fee system
Boone County legal officials say Supreme Court decision forbidding enforceable minimum fee schedules will not raise Boone attorney fees. BCBA president Mike Disler calls the ruling final, noting the association’s suggested fee schedule carries no sanctions. The change ends a 179 year old system that set minimum charges and punished undercutting attorneys.

Lebanon School Board Leases Lindbergh Building
In a 60 minute session the Lebanon School Board leased the old Lindbergh School Building to the Sheltered Workshop for 1 a year for five years. It approved spending 25000 on new band instruments and 56000 for an elementary school nutritional study funded by federal sources. The board also set new opening and closing times for fall classes and approved revised bus routes for the first time since 1963 and endorsed the Year Around School study committee’s final report.

New LCS Busing Routes Set For Fall Program
LCSD Transportation Director Dr. Les Ray unveiled a fall busing plan affecting Senior High and Middle School riders across Stokes Central Harney and Elmwood areas. The changes outline eligibility by street blocks and walking to pickup points with several areas excluded or shifted to shuttle or elementary routes. The board also approved a music instrument purchase plan, a Year Around School study stance, and leased the old South Side Football field to the Youth Football League for August through October.
