NHAC To Pay Assessments For Clean-out
Relief comes to Northfield Village homeowners in Lebanon as National Homes Acceptance Corporation will cover Prairie Creek assessments. Earlier reports said NHAC would not pay. County Treasurer Frank Hiland said NHAC officials confirmed payments, though some house payments may rise to cover the costs. A list of nonpaying homeowners is being prepared for NHAC, reducing the looming auction total but about 200 assessments remain unresolved.

Crawfordsville Indiana UPI reports a masked gunman in a green mask threatened to shoot the manager of an A P supermarket in the head during a holdup Friday night but fled after taking cash from Horace Tomey and about eight workers. The manager could not open the safe or provide a combination. The bandit fled in an old car after collecting what he could. An obituary note recalls vandals burning park signs protesting a park closure and a new anti motorbike ordinance.

State Police Supt. Robert A. ONeal announced that 100 young Hoosier men were chosen for the 1966 recruit training Academy at Indiana University Bloomington starting July 3. Two Booneites, John T. DeLong of Zionsville and Marvin D. Larsh of Zionsville, are among them. Applicants underwent exams, physicals, background checks and interviews since April 1. Training lasts eight weeks with a September 1 trooper rank competition and a one year probationary period plus in service instruction.
