Fire of unknown origin completely destroyed the B F Herdrich Lumber Mill at 815 West Pearl street last night around 10:30. Losses include the building, machinery, and lumber stock estimated over 5000, with no insurance. Hundreds gathered as flames spread rapidly, boiling sawdust and timber into a searing blaze while water pressure issues hampered efforts.

Meningitis Fatal for Five Year Old Boy
Maurice Parker died at his parents’ home near Oak Hill cemetery Tuesday afternoon after a month long battle with tubercular meningitis. Born December 7, 1918 in Noblesville, he moved with his family from Hamilton County to Texas in 1920 and then to Lebanon about a year and a half ago. He is survived by his parents and two brothers, Raymond and Richard Parker. Funeral will be Thursday at 2 PM at the residence with Rev. John M. Horne officiating. Burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

Ninth District Rebekahs Meet in Boone Clinton Counties
The first semi annual Ninth District Rebekah Lodges gathering, post re districting, was held Tuesday at Terhune with wide lodge representation from Lebanon Frankfort Whitestown Thorntown Reese Mills Colfax Forest Scircleville Cambra Rossville and Terhune. Ruth Rebekah Lodge delegates attended including Mrs Reike Anderson Mrs S M Storms Anna Frank Larsson and Myrtle Darnall. The meeting opened with an open session led by Mrs Storms and included remarks by Mrs Bond Frankfort and Mrs Robinson Brazil. Schce leville was named next district meeting site. Thorntown lodge earned the largest membership turnout for the second year in a row by receiving a large American flag. A bountiful supper preceded an evening session where Ruth Rebekah Lodge members from this city motored to Terhune and Lebanon Degree Staff demonstrated fine work. The district and staff received high praise for their presentation.
