Five Die In Rural House Fire Near Staunton

A rural residence fire in Staunton Virginia claimed five lives including William Weaver, Charles Weaver aged 40, and children Martha 18 Louise 16 and Tommy 12. The blaze swept through the home early yesterday, killing the entire family.

Fire Destroys Florida Plant in Citrus Packing Complex

A $3,000,000 fire at Snively Groves Inc and Pork Packing Association destroyed most buildings and inventories. Firefighters from nearly a dozen Florida citrus belt communities contained the blaze near Eloise. John A. Snively estimated nearly total loss with 35,000 to 40,000 cases of juice destroyed and all records for 30 years lost.

Rotary Visits Winkler Plant

Day Camp Opens Monday At Park

Community Service Day Camp begins at 9 a.m. Monday at the Memorial Park pavilion with activities for ages three to five, six to nine, and 10 to 12. George Rice Rites Sunday

George Monroe Rice 63 died Thursday night in Indianapolis after a three year illness. Burial in Maple Lawn cemetery at Thorntown follows 2 p m service tomorrow at Russell and Hitch funeral home. Survivors include widow Ethel Rice two Indianapolis children and several relatives. He worked at U S Rubber Co in Indianapolis and formerly at E R Jacques Poultry Co Thorntown. He was a Thorntown native and Woodmen member.
