The three and a half year old son of Mrs. May Etterburn at 1422 South Beck Street drank nearly a half pint of red lye left in a tin cup during washday. Dr J L Hendricks treated him but the caustic liquid had begun its work. The child lay at death's door as the morning wore on.
Miss Mary Wysong of this city, daughter of Mr and Mrs A Wysong, was one of twenty five graduates yesterday at Franklin College. Her family, including Horace Wysong and Miss Edna Carey of Ft Collins, Colorado, attended the commencement in Franklin. She earlier graduated Lebanon High School class of 1902 and took a leading role in the college glass play. She will return home tomorrow.
Secretary of the Navy Metcalf returned to Washington at 11 o'clock with his original party aboard except Postmaster General and Mrs Meyer who remained at Westover and came back by train. The trip faced delays from late departure as the Dolphin left the navy yard after the Vanderbilt party arrival was delayed in Asheville.

Mrs. Alice Cooper Lawson of La Fayette was convicted of murdering her husband and sentenced to life in the Woman's Prison. She was moved through the city at about 1 30 this afternoon in a large touring car, under sheriff escort from Tippecanoe county, en route to Indianapolis.
County Treasurer George G. Shirley traveled to Indianapolis to complete his semi annual settlement with the state treasurer Wat U. Hill and state authorities. The visit underscores routine financial reconciliation between county and state offices.

Mary Ellen Robinson Wynkoop died after a monthlong illness at 1107 South East street. Aged 55 years 7 months 26 days she was the widow of C M Wynkoop married in the county March 1 1870. Survived by son Ora J Wynkoop and daughter Elizabeth Wynkoop, three sisters Margaret Crawford Crecia Ragsdale Edith Robinson and Dora Huffman and a half sister in Boone county. She was a member of Centenary Methodist Church. Funeral Saturday at 10 30 am at residence Rev D Tillatson officiating burial at Robinson Cemetery.
