Boone REMC Plans 178000 Expansion and Remodeling

Boone County REMC begins a 178000 expansion and remodeling program at its Indianapolis Avenue office. The project adds a 50 by 110 foot brick veneered addition, converts a truck bay to a parts warehouse, and remodels the existing structure with heat pump heating and enhanced lighting. Completion aimed for November with business to continue during construction.

Boone County Venereal Disease Rates Decline, State Reports

The State Board of Health reports Boone County shows venereal diseases not rising. Through May six syphilis and five gonorrhea cases were recorded. since 1965, Boone has had no secondary infectious syphilis. Mexican Americans clash with officials at Rusk meeting

Pure Oil announces a 600000 truck plaza and 32 room motel on a 15 acre site at I 65 and Ind 334 in Perry Township. Indiana considers joint governor ticket and trimmed offices

The Indiana Constitutional Revision Commission subcommittee tentatively approves replacing separate governor and lieutenant governor races with a joint ticket. Boone County faces hurdles for migrant labor camps

Boone County plans to build about six migrant labor camps but faces zoning gaps and health rules. Planning Board President Carl Anderson said one camp is in planning near Advance, with five others proposed in rural areas. Any camp requires Planning Board and Zoning Appeals Board approval, plus state Health Board consent, and would need a special exception since no land is zoned for such use.
