Lebanon Man Critical After US 52 Crash
A 50 year old Lebanon man, Ed Wilson of 303 North Meridian Street, was in critical condition after a weekend crash on US 52 near Colfax Blacktop Road. His 1957 Buick overturned twice. he was treated for a skull fracture at Witham Hospital before transfer to Robert Long Hospital in Indianapolis. State Trooper Ron Garland said Wilson tried to pass a bus but found another car also passing. Wilson was alone in the vehicle. No other serious county accidents reported. emergency vehicles were seen en route to hospitals in Lebanon and Indianapolis.

Foust Receives Doctorate From Indiana University
Joseph Foust superintendent of the Lebanon Community School District earned his doctorate from Indiana University in absentia while remaining in Lebanon. A Bartolomew County native and Hope High School alumnus, he earned a B S from Franklin College and an M A from Butler University in 1952, with a dissertation on transportation. He and his wife have two children and he is a Rotary Club member.

Beating and Robbery in Boone Probed
The Boone County Sheriff's Office investigates a robbery and assault after Lloyd Burkhart of Indianapolis says he was picked up by youths in a white Thunderbird, driven to Boone, forced from the vehicle, beaten, stripped of shoes, and robbed of $29 near the Blackie White residence along old US 52. Burkhart, from Manchester Kentucky, reported the incident occurred about 5 a.m. Sunday and was dropped off in Marion County. Evidence of a struggle was noted at the scene.

Seven Hoosiers drowned over the weekend as summer temperatures prevailed in Indiana. Kenneth Bowen, 15, Lakeville, drowned in Riddle Lake near the St. Joseph Marshall County lines Sunday night while swimming. John Graham, 15, drowned in the Flat Rock River earlier. A Boonville couple Alvin and Gail Robinson drowned Saturday in the Ohio River near Henderson Kentucky when their boat overturned. Laddie Wilson Hinton, 32, Battleground, drowned in the Wabash River at Logansport Sunday when he slipped from a Pennsylvania Railroad bridge. Guy Richardson Abel, 32, Indianapolis, jumped from his boat in Raccoon Lake near Rockville Saturday and drowned. his body recovered hours later. Calvin Keith Banks, 10, Indianapolis, drowned Friday while wading in White River. body recovered after a four hour police search Saturday.
