The Community Service Day Camp will open next Monday at Memorial Park and run daily through Friday from 9 to 4 30. Open to boys and girls ages three through 12, the program will be in two sessions, with option for continuous enrollment. Expansion Of Social Security Plan Urged By Senator George
Washington June 13 The Senate Finance Committee chairman Walter F George Georgia Democrat urged an expanded social security program to add about 10 million to 35 million covered and nearly double benefits He said reform would end humiliating tests for eligibility and cut dole reliance while predicting coverage for all citizens within a year or two The plan would raise minimum benefits to 25 monthly average primary to about 49 and maximum to 72 monthly and boost family benefits to 82 monthly Payroll tax contributions would be frozen at current levels until 1956 then rise gradually to 10 per cent by 1970 The bill targets shifting federal state and similar funds away from direct doles toward universal security benefits.

Big Helicopter Crash Kills 3 in Southampton
The Cierva Air Horse, billed as the world’s largest helicopter, crashed during a test flight from Southampton Airport.
