Debating Prohibition Law Enforcement Open Downtown Union Series
A summer series of union services begins with a dramatic debate on prohibition under current law. E A Miles and J F Watkins of the Indiana Anti Saloon League lead the Sunday night program at Central Christian church. They argue Can the Law be Enforced with Miles as prosecuting attorney and Watkins as citizen. The event has been staged over 3,000 times nationwide and is noted for clear answers to objections to prohibition. Additional sermons and venues are planned on June 23, June 30, July 7, and July 14 at various churches in downtown Indianapolis.

Fire Demonstration Draws 500 Plus In Public Square
More than five hundred residents gathered for a fire-fighting demonstration in the public square sponsored by the Community Fire Protection Service. Debenture plan rejected by House in farm relief vote
Washington June 13 The House voted to instruct its conference committee to reject the expert debenture scheme of the Senate in the farm relief fight. A large Republican majority plus some Democrats defeated the debenture rider to the 500 million farm bill, prompting a new conference between Senate and House. The export debenture proposed paying a bounty on exports of surplus farm products from tariff receipts. The vote, taken without debate, underscored administration resistance and set up another Senate vote after the conference committee reports back. Speaker Longworth named the conferees to meet with a Senate committee to press the administration line.
