New US Base Near Saigon Faces Heavy Attack
At a three day old camp northeast of Saigon U S troops repelled a dawn assault by about 300 North Vietnamese. The clash left 38 enemy dead, three Americans fatally wounded and six wounded. North Vietnamese rockets and mortars preceded the ground attack. Twenty enemy climbed the barbed wire but were halted by dug-in defense. Three hours after the attack they withdrew. The week saw multiple hostile actions with civilian and military losses across the region including Da Nang and the DMZ. The weekly U S casualty report showed 252 Americans killed last week and 2,125 hurt, with South Vietnamese losses higher.

Tour Europe With Youth Band and Chorus

Two Utility Men Injured At College Life Site
Two Lebanon utility workers were injured in separate accidents at the College Life home and apartment development on Elizaville Road. James Bowen received facial lacerations when a ditch bank caved in and buried him to the waist. he was treated and discharged. Orveis Hensley was bruised and contused when a wench man fell on him. he was admitted to Witham Hospital in fair condition with minor bruises and stiffness.

A 23 year old Lebanon area man Ronald Lurber was charged with theft after being arrested at the Sale Barn for stealing hogs Monday night. He allegedly took four crossbred hogs from Robert Revell and eleven from Devon Bevington before driving around then unloading and attempting to sell them Tuesday. He posted a $2500 bond and was released with arraignment pending.

Stolen Auto Found Partially Stripped Near Lebanon
A 1968 dark blue Chevrolet owned by Marvin Rader of Lebanon was recovered about 6 p.m. two miles south of Lebanon on a rural blacktop off State Road 39. The car had its front wheels and fires missing after being stolen from in front of Rader’s home at 52242 West Washington Street during the night.
