A Lebanon Street home hosted Miss Georgia Ruth Simmons engagement to Mr. Stanley Emory Jones in a themed party. Guests joined in mock ceremonies and games, with decorations and wedding bells marking the occasion. US Sailors Reported Lost In Launch Wreck

Norfolk Va June 12 Secretary of the Navy and Mrs Metcalf and others travel aboard the lighthouse tender Maple which failed to reach here by morning causing concern. The incident occurred during recovery operations near Jamestown Island with official dispatches detailing the missing crew members.

Auto Wreck Fatal in Indianapolis Street Clash

Two women are dead and three other persons are badly injured after a collision between a Broad Ripple Maxwell touring car and a White City street car No 168 at the Thirty eight street crossing on Broad Ripple line yesterday about 6:30 pm. The driver J F Heim of Broad Ripple and his 16 year old daughter Fay survive, while Mrs Thomas W Love Mrs Emma Gordon and Mrs Beaklas Kester, all Indianapolis residents, are among the injured.

Royal Welcome for Rev O A Cook in Shelbyville

A large reception held last Thursday evening honored Rev. O A Cook and family in Shelbyville with about four hundred attendees. The church parlors were decorated with ferns and American flags, a short musical program was presented, and refreshments served. Congregation members and families greeted the pastor, with most city ministers attending. The event ran from 7 30 to 10.

Schmitz Denies Graft Charge On The Stand In San Francisco

In San Francisco on June 12 Abraham Ruef and Mayor Schmitz were star witnesses as the trial continued. Ruef hinted at a split payment from extortion funds while Schmitz maintained calm and answered questions, denying receipt of a $5,000 fee and any part of Ruef’s payment relayed at Schmitz’s home. M. P. Scott testified about Tortoni’s license case and stated Reagan’s view on the French restaurants, with Schmitz’s aides discussing how to handle the license disputes and union pressure.
