The Young People Congress of the Western Indiana Christian Congregational Association will host its annual rally at Browns Wonder church northeast of Lebanon on Friday June 4. Members come from 37 churches across Western Indiana from Terre Haute to Kokomo and Mullott to Lebanon. The program features registrations, services in song, various discussions on topics including alcoholism and leisure, addresses by Rev. Frederick Cowper and Rev. Osborne Prairie, plus declamation contests for girls and boys.
Vacation Bible School at the First Baptist Church entered its active week with a total enrollment of sixty one. An exhibit of handiwork will be shown in the church foyer on Sunday and a play will be performed at the Sunday morning services by school members. Miss Mosceyln Smith serves as Superintendent of the Primary department, assisted by Phyllis Smith and Mary Bowman. The Primary department has twenty seven students. Twenty one are enrolled in Kindergarten under Mrs Russell Smith. The Rev C A Metz is assisted in the Junior department by Mrs C A Metz, Helen Badgley and Winford Groover.

Indianapolis June 11. New state police head Donald Stivers says enforcement of gambling laws will be up to local authorities with state guidance. He notes cooperation with sheriffs is key and outlines three divisions for the expanded force, plus a police training school, and a July 1 start for a $25,000 appropriation.
In Muncie Indiana on June 11 C L Barton 31 arriving from South Carolina shot and killed his wife 24 in front of a West Seymour street store and then killed himself. The couple had been separated for weeks Barton came to reconcile after she rejected his advances police said.
A Friday night garden concert at the J. I. Holcomb estate north of Indianapolis features Clarence R. Ball of Toledo and George W. Kadel of Indianapolis with Paul Matthews, former Lebanon resident, providing accompaniment. Senate foes delayed the new voluntary NRA legislation at the outset of debate as Senator Gore proposed a confirmation requirement for NRA employees earning over four thousand dollars a year. House Speaker Burns signaled quick acceptance of the anti trust amendment to the Clark NRA resolution amid further plans by Senator Boratt to press a stricter anti trust rider.
At Franklin College 101st commencement Paul Lemnott Thompson received the doctor of laws degree. Thompson, formerly of this city, has ties to Lebanon and Alton Illinois where he serves as president of Shurtlett College.
Paul Van Riper superintendent of city schools will enter Methodist hospital Indianapolis this evening and Wednesday morning undergo operation to remove a cataract from one eye.
A delegation from Indiana including Isadore Eichman and Jesse M Batterton departed Indianapolis for Mexico City to attend the Rotary International convention to be held June 17 to 21. Eichman serves as official delegate from the Lebanon Rotary Club and Batterton as the alternate.
Washington reports J Edgar Hoover says about 90 000 of the Weyerhaeuser ransom has been found near Immigration Pass Utah about 90 miles from Salt Lake City bringing total recovered to over 100 000 of the 200 000. The stash buried under oilcloth and gunny sack was located two miles from the highway by Justice Department agents. Hoover reveals a two man theory of the crime and notes the Spokane held child prisoner at 1509 West Eleventh Street.
Lansing June 11 A petition asking appointment of a receiver for the 30 million Detroit Life Insurance Company was filed in Ingham County Circuit court today by Attorney-General Harry S. Toy. The company has about 22 000 policy holders. Washington June 11 The Senate banking committee today approved the Fletcher resolution extending until 1938 the time limit for liquidation of loans to bank executives by member banks of the Federal reserve system. Atlantic City June 11 The house of delegates of the American Medical today adopted a measure to monitor all radio broadcasts on medicine heard by the American people, whether domestic or foreign. Federal Communications Commission today struck a heavy blow at interlocking directorates in telephone and telegraph fields. It ordered leaders in those industries to confine official connections to a single company.
