John S. Kersey Dies Suddenly at Home Near Lebanon
John S. Kersey, a longtime Boone County resident born February 24, 1843, died suddenly from apoplexy at about 12:25 a.m. at his home near Lebanon after reporting a headache earlier. He married Martha A. Hader in 1872 and leaves several children and a living sister. A Mt Zion church member and G A R post member, his funeral is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mt Zion with burial in Brockway Cemetery.

The funeral will be from the Whittinghills at 5 p m Wednesday Rev Homer Dale officiating, body to Scottsburg, burial in Eesti cemetery there.

Aus tin Sutphin of this county was found not guilty after a thirty minute jury deliberation in Noblesville on a charge of unlawfully possessing liquor. Evidence showed he bought a gallon of brandy and wine for personal use in Indianapolis and was seized in Sheridan en route home. Defense cited his truthfulness and local reputation. Elza C.
