Damage Suit Set To Begin In Boone County Court
A $71 000 damage suit over a December 17 1965 Boone County accident opens Monday in Superior Court before Judge Paul Johnson Jr. Plaintiffs Grace R Lumby and father Thomas H Lumbey accuse Paul Wayne Harris and Lawrence G Hopf of causing injuries in a two car crash on US 52 near Royalton. Lumby, then 18, says she suffered permanent disfigurement and multiple fractures requiring surgery after riding in Hopf's 1963 Ford from Eureka College to Reading Pa. The complaint seeks 60 000 in damages plus 11 500 for hospitalization. Defense attorney Eugene B Burns represents Harris locally. Parr Richey Obremskey Pedersen filed.

Landmark house razed on Drake Street by fire
An old two story Federal style home dating to the 1850s along Drake Street near the Penn Central tracks was burned today under Lebanon Fire Department supervision. The vacant building had housed Mollie Holden and family in earlier years and is one of two 19th century structures razed in the area.

More Pullouts To Depend On Viet Equipment
The United States plans to spend over 1000 dollars per soldier next year to equip the South Vietnamese army, with possible further U.S. withdrawals if results improve. Defense Secretary Melvin R. Laird said the first 25,000 man withdrawal will favor Army and Marine units, excluding Air Force or Navy. The target for a further withdrawal is early August, with a review thereafter. Laird cited a revised budget boosting South Vietnamese equipment to 1.25 billion dollars for the year starting July 1, including troop carriers trucks radios and ammunition. South Vietnamese forces rose from 650,000 in Jan 1968 to 857,000 by April this year, slated to reach 875,000 by year end, a ratio akin to 15 million Americans.

Lebanon Guard Unit To Leave Saturday For Grayling Duty
The Lebanon based battery of the Indiana National Guard will depart Saturday with about 100 personnel to Camp Grayling Michigan for a two week field training. Commanded by Lt Ronald Henry of Knights Town the unit's First Sergeant is Ed Taylor of Lebanon. Adjutant General John N Owens said 3 000 nondivisional Guardsmen will stay in Indiana for weekend training at Camp Atterbury and civil defense support.
