Federal conciliator John L Penton said truckers and AFL Teamsters reached a pact to end the three week Western state haul trucking strike. County Bounty Paid On Second Wolf Shot Near Mechanicsburg

Health Service Report Details Polio Vaccine Problems
The Public Health Service announced required new standards for Salk polio vaccine after unexpected manufacturing problems threatened a built in safety factor. Surgeon General Leonard A. Scheele said the vaccine still holds promise as a major advance in prevention and control of a disease that affected children and young adults for generations.
