Washington June 10 Federal expenditures for the current fiscal year crossed seven billion dollars. Treasury statistics show 7 000 121 468 spent to date, with 4 934 307 186 for general and departmental costs and 2 605 814 281 for recovery and relief. Revenues for the year are reported as aggregate.

Pendleton Indiana June 10 Marion Mayes 28 of Indianapolis was admitted to the state reformatory to serve a 10 to 25 year sentence after conviction for a Lapel holdup May 20 in which his companion Lester H Brown of Anderson was killed Judge C E Smith of Anderson sentenced him and Brown had joined robberies in several cities authorities said
Chicago June 1 The sensational tale of a plan to abduct John D Rockefeller Prentice was admitted as a hoax by the nurse involved Miss Margaret Montgomery a 27 year old at Presbyter ian hospital after police questioning She confessed the plot was invented after two men allegedly coerced her into the scheme and the supposed victim failed to appear prompting the police to intervene The alleged abductors were not found and Prentice reported receiving odd calls before the incident described The nurse described being seized by two men near a dark alley and driven in a car before being released after police tracked the case to Montgomery's testimony continues on Page 4.
London reports Britain rejected Soviet Russia's protest to the Non-Intervention Committee and recalled its delegate. The reply says four power talks on naval patrol around Spain do not alter the central control system and will only ensure patrol safety. The note defends Britain's stance after the Deutschland bombing and the departure of Germany and II from the committee.

Indianapolis June 10 Prison meal costs rise from one half cent to four cents daily after a ruling by William Cosgrove head of the state board of accounts. The Indiana Sheriff’s Association requested the increases due to food costs. The July 1 schedule sets 12 1/2 cents per meal in Marion county an increase of a half cent. Other counties see increases from two and a half to four cents per meal. Cosgrove said charges apply to meals served and federal prisoners are excluded. The legislature authorized fixing food allowances.

Four persons were injured when two cars collided on wet pavement along U S Highway 52 near Center Ridge School late Wednesday afternoon. Injured include Charles Miller of 1120 West New York Street, pelvis fracture and femur injury. William McGlynn of 348 North Rural Street, severe cuts and bruises. Jee Billings of near Hartsville, concussion and chest injuries. his daughter Harriet, a Purdue student, who had teeth knocked out. They were taken to Witham hospital.
In Monroe Michigan violence entered the Newton steel strike as loyal workers beat CIO organizer L McDonald and drove him from town. As clashes loomed, 15 pickets kept vigil at the mill gate while CIO leaders pledged five to ten thousand scouts from Detroit River Rouge and Ecorse to join the line. Governor Murphy met with officials in Lansing to avert bloodshed and workers warned of a possible city-wide shutdown if troops were called.
