Summer School Opens at New High School Building
Summer school opened yesterday in the new high school with strong enrollment in history and in seventh and eighth grade makeup classes. Mathematics enrollment was solid though smaller, with room for six or seven more students. Additional enrollments accepted through Thursday, with special vacation arrangements available for Scouts attending a camp under a special schedule set by the principal.

Smith elected to Lebanon school board in tie vote
In a regular city council session William H. Smith was chosen for the Lebanon school board to replace Dr. L. W. Kirtley whose term ends August 1. The ballot tied with W. K. Federal tax on long distance calls repealed
The federal tax on long distance telephone calls will be removed and take effect at midnight July 2. Manager Virgil Buntin of Lebanon Telephone Company says the tax, in place since 1918, was five or ten cents per call and brought in about $150 monthly in the Lebanon exchange. Telegram tax, about $50 monthly, is also to be dropped, with the 1924 revenue act signed by the President terminating both taxes shortly after signing.
