A Lafayette automobile party four persons narrowly escaped death when their car was struck by Wabash train No. 4 on the South Ninth Street hill. The engine was nearly stopped. occupants leaped clear as the car slid onto the track and was pushed aside, leaving the fender, tire and radiator damaged. The driver, a Newton Day pupil, and others were unhurt.
