Century mark program set at Oak Hill Cemetery
Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon will mark its centennial on June 25 with a special program at the grounds. The cemetery began March 28, 1872 when Samuel Rodefer bought 9.21 acres east of Lebanon, later expanding to 150 acres with a 1969 60 acre addition, housing 9680 interments.

Byard Pleads Guilty Assault Fine Set in Boone Court
Edward E. Byard 32 of Lebanon pleaded guilty to assault and battery in Boone County Superior Court. Judge Paul H. Johnson Jr. fined him $25 plus $38 costs. Byard faced a prior aggravated assault charge from September 17, 1971, involving his former wife LeDonne Byard. Police testified to a bloodied scene and Byard ordering entry before hospital transport.

New Residential Sections Planned For City Lebanon Growth Spurs Annexation Petitions
Lebanon plans rapid residential expansion with three new annexation petitions totaling nearly 100 acres and a fourth expected for another large parcel. At Monday’s City Council meeting two ordinances may approve annexations of Brendan Wood extension and a commercial apartment complex near Northfield Shopping Center. John R. Ayres seeks 45 446 acres east of Lebanon on Ratsburg Road for home construction, while Clifford Builders Inc petitions two parcels across Fordice Road and near John Bart and Fordice Roads for houses. Robert Hendricks is expected to petition south on old business route 52 for frontage and apartment development. The ordinances cover Plaza 46 north of Northfield Shopping Center, including a W T Grant store, and 100 acres for Cleo Smith residential development east of Brendan Wood on State Road 39.
