Farmers State Bank May Remain Open In Zionsville
Zionsville Indiana June 9 Indications Thursday morning were that the Farmers State Bank which has been seeking waivers on deposits would be permitted to stay open More than 73 percent of deposits had been signed up and by week’s end it is estimated that 90 percent will be waived The State Banking Department requires waivers from 80 percent of depositors or liquidation The waiver allows the bank to control all deposits as of March 4 with power to decide payment times and methods No dividends on stock will be paid until depositors are satisfied in full The bank is in Class B since government closed banks March 4 and will be bound by actions of the signed depositors

In Dalington Indiana on June 9 Jack Buchanan Darlington son of Mr and Mrs John Buchanan plunged into Sugar Creek with his clothes on to save Russell Cox seven year old son of Mr and Mrs Frank Cox from drowning. After a quick dive he brought the boy to shore and aided his revival. Russell could not swim but Jack and Ralph Cox helped. The incident occurred near the bend where younger boys waded and swam as Jack visited during vacation from Purdue University.
