An all day hearing in Marion township challenged the county superintendent's order to build a new school house. Defendants argued the vote of a small patron group was not binding without a majority of all voters. Judge Westle ruled for the defendants, preventing a new school house for now.
The Robert Dale Owen Memorial group awarded the contract for making a bust of Robert Dale Owen to Indiana sculptor Frances Floodwin, based in Newcastle. The fund aim was $2000 and the six month completion plan includes adedication ceremony. Mrs Julia B Conklin serves as association president. Robert Dale Owen, founder of New Harmony, played a key public role in Indiana in early state history.

Mrs Charles Hartman and Miss Harriet Gabriel entertained about sixty guests yesterday at the Hartman home on Indianapolis Ave with sewing, an afternoon program, and summer refreshments. G. C. Oliver Benedict wed Miss Louise Carpenter at Rutherfordton North Carolina on June 4 in the Presbyterian church. Indianapolis relatives attended with organ music by Mrs. J Uhl and the bridal party entered to the Lohengrin Wedding March. The couple planned a trip to Asheville and the South and will reside in Indianapolis at 1309 North Alabama Street.

The loss is pegged near 40,900 dollars, insured, with origin undetermined and walls helping to contain spread.
The alienation suit by Jesse Green against Dablel J. Stevenson was settled out of court Tuesday afternoon. Green, recently divorced, had filed for 710,000 alleging Stevenson damaged his marriage by interfering with his wife. Details indicate the case was dis missed after a settlement.
George Finch, about seventeen, of Clarksville, was run over by a Big Four train at Clarks Hill. His legs were mangled beyond repair and amputated below the knee. He was taken to Lafayette hospital after the accident as Chester Jarvis assisted him homeward towards Colfax to hunt wild strawberries.
In Indianapolis at St. Clair and Delaware streets about 10 36 p m Chief Meteger fired at a speeding automobile to stop it. A bullet from his revolver struck attorney Samuel W Dowden eight and damaged by unidentified officers. Dowden and Richardwon Sinclair rode in the car as police fired. The severity of Dowden’s wounds is not yet known.
James Oliver Bradley was sentenced to life in Michigan City prison after a 1 45 p m ruling by Judge Parr for murder. Bradley claimed innocence as Sheriff Mangus and court officials escorted him from the jail. he will be transported Thursday, with care noted for stomach congestion.
Crawfordsville county council approves four thousand dollars to repair the court house after previously rejecting the request. The project includes mossac flooring for tower and upper floors, re papering walls, re varnishing woodwork, and a full top to bottom overhaul to address deteriorating conditions.
Evansville June 9 Elks begin the eighth annual state reunion receiving the so called key to the town badges with oxidized metal and purple ribbon while bronze keys mark Evansville members. Special trains from Monon Southern railroads bring large delegations including 160 from Fort Wayne and others from Wabash Bloomington and nearby areas.
