In Fort Wayne two gunmen attempted a tavern robbery at the First and Last Chance Tavern. Owner Donald Platt sustained a chest wound but shot one bandit, who was killed. The surviving gunman fled. no money was taken. Platt was listed in fair condition. Police linked the incident to a recent wave of armed robberies.

Crossroads honors three volunteers at tea in Indianapolis
Three individuals Ottis Burrus Claude A Potts and Robert Gibbs were honored for service to Crossroads Rehabilitation Center at a June 7 tea at the Dulberger home in Indianapolis. Police Car Struck. Driver Cited In Lebanon Crash
A 21 year old Lebanon motor ist was cited for reckless driving after his 1964 Chevrolet struck a patrol car in the 600 block of North Lebanon Street at about 6 15 a m. The patrol car driven by Park Quick received 500 in damage and the Myers auto 300. Quick and Myers were unhurt. The investigation found the Myers car was 37 inches over the center line.

Fire On Naval Research Ship Through Error
Washington reports Israeli planes and torpedo boats attacked a U.S. Navy research ship in the Mediterranean near the Sinai. Four sailors were killed and 53 wounded.
