Patrolman Omer Dale arrested two men after stopping two dilapidated cars each carrying a barrel of mash near Indianapolis avenue by the Big Four crossing. A third man fled. Prisoners Akers and Bridges, both of 728 Grove street, Indianapolis, were jailed while David Gant of 1544 Hiatt street, Indianapolis, fled. Authorities seized two barrels and two Ford touring cars believed linked to Gant who allegedly hired the pair to fetch the mash from Thorntown. Prosecutor charged all three with transporting liquor. case moved to Boone Circuit Court.

Oil Stove Explosion Kills Mother and Infant
Kendallville Indiana June 7 Emma Byrd 18 and her two month old daughter Dorothy died after an oil stove exploded last night as kerosene was poured into it. Fire swept through the Byrd home causing severe burns to both, the mother and child died several hours later in a hospital. The father, alerted by screams from a nearby field, was unable to save them as the blaze damaged the dwelling.
