Hijacked Helicopter Escape At Michigan Prison Stuns Officials
A hijacked helicopter landed at Southern Michigan Prison yard and freed inmate Dale Otto Remling, 46, of Sidney. They fled toward Munich area, swapping to a getaway car. a woman drove the car as authorities pursued. The escape sparked a manhunt with track dogs and a police helicopter deployed while prisoners were counted.

Five Injured In Separate Accidents In Indiana
Two Noblesville men suffered injuries when their pickup left CR 200 E, tore fences, and crashed into a yard tree at the Hobson residence in Zionsville. Elmer C. Coleman, 357 Chestnut St., was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital with facial lacerations. Timothy McNew, 19, 537 Cherry St., Noblesville, had a lacerated head and bruises and was treated on scene. Police said charges pending. McNew released after bandage removal. In a separate I-65 crash near SR 47, Erasmo Gomez, 35, Russiaville, was arrested for driving under the influence after a van collision injured three passengers from Frankfort. Passengers Teresa Acostia, Mary Ramous, and Lupe Valdez were hospitalized or treated for serious injuries. Gomez plus damage details noted.

Trooper Hits Woman On Rural Indiana Road
Josefina Tamez, 31, of Rensselaer, died after Indiana State Police Trooper William Krueger struck her body on U.S. 231 in Jasper County. Authorities said the incident appeared accidental as Krueger, distracted by headlights, could not avoid the collision. The victim was returning from work as a waitress and died at Jasper County Hospital.
