Alma Becomes First Storm Of Season In Caribbean
Tropical storm Alma formed today from a rainy low pressure area in the northwestern Caribbean Sea and is packing 60 mph winds toward the north north east. The U S Weather Bureau Miami expects possible intensification to near hurricane force in the next 12 to 18 hours as it slowly drifts northward about five mph, with gusts to 45 mph in squalls and Swan Island reporting 47 mph winds.

License Time In Lebanon For All Dog Bike Owners

Traffic Toll Rises In Indiana Weekend Crashes
United Press International reports nine deaths Sunday raise Indiana’s weekend toll to at least 11 and yearly total to 614. A four car wreck on Indiana 37A near Noblesville killed Nancy Jo Mateer 20 Henry Stidham 37 and Mildred Schuette 65. Two more fatalities occurred near Anderson in a separate wreck. Don Schuette 69 and Phillip Burner 20 were involved, with Burner's car hitting another vehicle. Chester Debord 59 and Robert Moore Jr. 21 died or were injured in other crashes. Continued on page 4.

Florida Man Hurt Today In Rear-Ended Auto Crash
A Miami Beach man Oscar Pedreira aged 46 sustained head lacerations and a shoulder injury when a 1965 Ford Mustang driven by Dorothy Mae Sanders veered into his Volkswagen on I-65 south of Lebanon causing a rollover. Pedreira and his wife were taken to Witham Hospital with both wearing seat belts. The Mustang suffered $450 damage while the Volkswagen was a total loss valued at $1,000. No citations issued.

Three Hurt In Factory Blast Columbus Gas Explosion Injures Workers
Three men were in serious condition in Indianapolis hospitals after an explosion at the Golden Foundry Co plant in Columbus. Robert Kreinop of Jonesville and Robert Melvin of Columbus were hospitalized with second and third degree burns on face arms and legs, while Winfrey Deckard of Columbus was treated for similar injuries. Officials said gas seeped into a room below ground level, likely natural or sewer gas, possibly ignited by a cigarette. The plant was installing pipes to the city water system during a breakdown, and the blast was not linked to ongoing work.
