Born in Vermilion County Illinois she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Ann Shuemaker and the last of nine children. Chicago reports that 862 citations with populations over 5,000 earned places on the National Safety Council Traffic Safety Award Honor Roll for no traffic fatalities in 1955. Lebanon was included, an increase of 32 from 1954. Muskegon, Michigan, 45,429 population, was the largest no-death city in 1955.

Stevenson Wins California 68 Delegate Victory
Adlai E Stevenson swept California to 68 Democratic convention votes and led Kefauver in a decisive victory that boosts his bid for the party nominating race. With 16 317 of 24 160 precincts counted Stevenson held about 62 percent in California while Kefauver trailed. Eisenhower led the GOP contest nationally. Indiana Girl Found Unharmed After Missing Near Evergreen
Eight year old Sarah Dixon from Brownsburg Ind disappeared near Stanley Park Tuesday as 290 volunteers and bloodhounds searched rugged terrain. The girl wandered into a cabin area near her mountain resort and was located unharmed with her playmate Kathy Thomas who remained frightened but safe.

More than 125 people attended the family night supper of the Boone County Conservation League at East Noble street club house. Dr. Charles W. Kirkpatrick, wildlife management expert, spoke on Aleutian history and sea otters, introduced by Ralph W. Stark with Keith Cunningham leading a brief meeting. He described pelts once valued at 1000 to 2000 dollars and the 1911 US ban on trapping.

Lavandin a French colt owned by Pierre Wertheimer surged through the rain drenched stretch at Epsom Downs to win the 177th English Derby by a nose from Montaval.
