Bloomington Indiana June 6 Thomas Kuchell of Anaheim California paid 75 cents to settle a 10 cent debt. He worked with William Arthur Syra of Bloomington on a road crew until a year ago. A telegraph cash order for 10 cents prompted Syra to recall the unpaid dime.
Washington June 6 Driving toward agreement Senate and House conferees discussed a compromise wage hour bill echoing NRA principles. The proposal sets a flat minimum wage starting at 25 cents per hour, rising to 27 1/2 then 30 cents over three years. At 30 cents the President could appoint boards to classify inter state industries and suggest exemptions between 30 and 40 cents.
In Miami on June 6 M F Braxton and his son Pedro, the last known suspects in the Jimmy Cash kidnapping, were released by federal agents after threats of legal action by Mrs M F Braxton. Also noted are federal and Senate actions on investigations into monopolies and farm relief measures.
Albert Ho Henry of Jamestown is favored to win the post of Commander of the United Spanish Veterans of Indiana as the thirty ninth encampment enters its second day. Thurman A. Gottschalk, director of the State Department of Public Welfare, spoke at the event urging Americans to purge selfish attitudes that have worsened the country’s financial ills.

Funeral services for Edgar M. Servies were held at Lawler funeral home this afternoon at 2 40 with Rev D A Metz of the First Baptist church officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery. He died Saturday noon at Witham hospital after a two year illness following surgery three weeks ago. Pallbearers were Do G. Edwards Walter Hodge Byron L. Jones John Mount Carl Bowman and Omer Burgin. He was born in Joone county in Jackson township to John and Rhoda Ke Strange. He married Elizabeth Staley in Terre Haute May 0 in Terre Haute. He leaves a widow a son Wayne Servies of Indianapolis a brother 0 W Servies of Danville a sister Mrs Mary E B Taylor of New Market. Two brothers William A and Harvey Servies and two sisters Mrs Laura English and Mrs Nealia Bean preceded him in death. He was prominent in educational and business circles a former principal at Jamestown Advance Colfax and Ladoga and superintendent of Boone county schools 1911 to 1921. He was appointed to the Carnegie public library board twenty four years ago and was serving as president at his death He was a former president of the Rural Credit Savings and Loan Association and at death was vice president of the Union Federal Savings and Loan Association He belonged to the First Baptist church of Lebanon and the Knights of Pythias Lodge at New Market.
Yeggmen probed two safe cracking jobs in Lebanon over the weekend, taking only 5.54 from a Pennsylvania freight office safe after forcing the combination with a sledge. They tried the same method on the Big Four passenger office safe but did not open it. The Pennsylvan ia station crime was reported today.
