Watergate Threats Recounted In Ehrlichman Deposition

Ex-presidential aide John Ehrlichman testified that Jeb Magruder reported G. Gordon Liddy had threatened to kill him. The deposition, part of the DNC suit over the Watergate break in, notes bad blood between Magruder and Liddy and mentions an alleged intelligence operation to obtain information on Democrats.

Commissioners Caution Use Of Oil On Roads As Hazardous

Boone County commissioners approved a policy to regulate oiling gravel rural roads amid safety complaints from school bus drivers and state officials. Residents and firms will notify the Highway Superintendent before oiling, who will guide usage and post roads to dry. Also raised election day worker meals from 2 to 5 dollars and adjusted hospital fund rate requests. Plans discussed paving requests, zoning control post new planning law, precinct changes for 1974, and ambulance funding via local option tax pending council action.

Violent Storms Batter Boone County With Tornado Watches

Severe storms continued across Boone County and much of Indiana with watches in effect as funnel clouds and hail were reported. Damage included a mobile home destroyed at Lebanon Park Estates and two semi crashes on I-65, with limited injuries and several hundred dollars in damages.

No Decision Rendered In Boone Hog Market Hearing For Marion

More than 50 attendees filled a Boone County meeting room to hear arguments on a Marion hog feedlot project. Opponents warned of run off and property devaluation near US 421 and SR 47. Proponents argued market needs and supported economic benefits for Boone County farms. A final ruling requires all three county commissioners’ concurrence and could come at the June 18 session.

Safe Peeled In Lebanon Bowling Center Burglary

Thief stole about 1000 dollars from the Lebanon Bowling Center, with part of the money in a peeled safe. Deputies Det indicated the break in occurred between 9 30 p m Sunday and 5 p m Monday. Entry was gained through a north door on Indianapolis Avenue with a chisel ripping the safe. A jukebox and three machines were opened and wiring damaged same time. Investigation continues.

Zionsville Board Approves Rezoning for Church Adjacent Complex

The Zionsville Town Board, following the Plan Commission, rezones property east of SR 334 next to the United Methodist Church to allow Paul Hyatt to construct a 6,000 square foot commercial building. It also raises the Peddlers License fee to 20 per day from 15 first day and 1 for each subsequent day. The board reviewed town insurance renewals noting a 350 savings and higher claims. Police Chief Ray Large seeks a Town Judge after Allen Wharry resigned effective June 30, with candidates to be interviewed and a judge to be announced later.

Periods of showers and thunderstorms are forecast with strong gusty winds and heavy rain possible. Cooler on Wednesday with lingering morning showers, highs in the mid 70s and lower 80s, and overnight lows near 60.
