Summer School Begins As 510 Enrolled In Lebanon
MSD of Lebanon summer school opens with 510 students enrolled. All attendees meet Monday at 8 a.m. in the junior high gym for organization. Reading classes for grades 3-8 meet in rooms 27 and 28 in the basement of the East or Meridian Street building. Naomi Smiley oversees the reading program with a staff of Morton, Parr, Akers, and King. Eight-week session runs through July 31 with no school July 5. report cards will be issued on July 31 after a Saturday session. Courses include Grammar, Literature, Health, Safety, Developmental Reading, Art, Driver Training, World History, Typing, Math, and Band with listed teachers.

County Asked To OK North I-65 Project
The Boone County Board of Commissioners are asked by the State Highway Commission to approve a resolution detailing the I-65 north leg from Lebanon to the Clinton County line. Construction is planned to start about 1970 with a cloverleaf interchange and multiple overpasses to serve bus routes and rural traffic. Two north leg roads will be closed and an interchange at SR 47 plus a frontage road are planned. The commission awaits further study before approval.

Western School District Seeks Fifty Cent Building Fund
The Western Community School District proposes a 50 cent per hundred dollar tax for a ten year cumulative building fund. If approved by the seven member board, funds would apply to construction, remodeling, ground work and related costs starting with 1965 taxes. Boone Worker Gets Sentence For Theft Ring
A Boone County man and two accomplices were sentenced for stealing metal from Steel Industries Inc. in Crawfordsville, part of a 21 month looting ring totaling over 25000 dollars. Robert Meier, 25, received 1 to 10 years at Pendleton State Reformatory. William H. McElwee, 24, and Johnathan L. Wright, 24, both of Crawfordsville and Lebanon, were given suspended 17 year terms and one year disqualification, with orders to repay losses to the insurer. McElwee and Wright reported about 240 and 220 dollars respectively. A fourth member continued.
