Illness Fatal To George Crooks

George M Crooks uncle of Mrs Paul Honan and Miss Bellerosks died Friday at Robert Long hospital in Indianapolis after a period at Wiltian hospital and transfer to Indianapolis hospital. He had lived in Lebanon five years after coming from Tampa Florida. Survived by foster daughter Mrs Nethe Pomert and sister Mrs Prank Stepp, last of a family of 11. Brother Arthur Crooks died Sunday in Long Beach California. Masonic funeral 3:30 pm Monday at Gillis funeral home Terre Haute.

Conservationists Plan Family Night At Club Tuesday

Rev Oren A. Cook aged 98 former pastor of the First Baptist Church dies in Indianapolis. Funeral services set for 3 pm at Sidnley Bros Irving Hill chapel with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery at 4 45 pm. He led the Lebanon church 1696 to 1907 and served Franklin and Indianapolis churches before retirement. Spanish American War Veteran Charged With Extortion

A 75 year old Spanish American War veteran, John Cass Adrian, was freed on bond after being charged with trying to extort 800000 dollars from Rascom Giles, former state land commissioner and Veterans Land Board chair. Giles, who retired as a mail carrier in 1941 due to a heart condition, denies all charges. Three threatening letters allegedly demanded huge sums to avoid accusing Giles of a crime and harming his reputation.

West Point Grad John Dryer to Be Commissioned in Signal Corps

West Point graduate John Dryer 24 of Elmwood will graduate June 7 from the U S Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science degree and receive a commission as a second lieutenant in the Signal Corps. He participated in the Camel s, Ordnance and Weight Lifting clubs and in intercollegiate football and track and was a member of the general committee. Dryer earned a congressional appointment to West Point from Representative Cecil Harden of Indiana 6th District and attended Wabash College in Crawfordsville.

Drawer Break-In Reported at North Lebanon Home
