Athens Water Plant Celebration Marks Historic Completion
Athens marks the completion of a $13.5 million water system built by Ulen and Company with 5000 attendees including Greek and American officials. The project, financed by $38 million cash and $10 million bonds, feeds Athens Piraeus and Phaleron with gravity fed water via the Boyiati tunnel, the longest hydraulic tunnel in Europe. The dam near Marathon uses Pentelicon marble and required 30 months from foundation to marble facing. The event featured blessing by the Archbishop, ceremonies, decorations, and a lights display through June 14.

Vacation Church School Opens Here June Eights
The Vacation Church School opens next Monday at 9 am for Lebanon children aged four to twelve with trained teachers, Bible study, hymns, and play. Guests Flee Beers Hotel Fire In Uptown District
In St Louis at 4 a m fire gutted the furnace room of the 60 year old Beers Hotel. More than seventy five guests fled in night clothes as smoke filled hallways. Several women were helped down fire escapes including 92 year old Mrs Theresa Carraden who remained in serious condition from smoke and shock. Many guests lost belongings during the blaze.

Postal Receipts Show Gain in Lebanon Office
Postal receipts continue to rise at the Lebanon post office while Indiana as a whole reports a 12.4 percent drop in the first five months of the year. Lebanon’s figures for the same period show 1929 12 956 46, 1980 12 968 26, and 1981 13 422 10. The Lebanon office has gained nearly 100 dollars monthly this year and an all time record is expected for the year.
