Indianapolis Indiana June 4 Ralph Kentuck Patterson 21 was dead at St Vincent’s hospital from a wound believed to be from a hijacker’s bullet. Patterson refused to name his attacker to detectives. Fred Vance 26 in jail said Patterson was on a rum running trip when two men stopped their car and shot him. S R Stafford 42 linked to liquor cargo was also arrested as the case unfolds. Patterson had come from Kentucky about a year ago.

Fire damaged the large frame DeVol residence at 305 East Washington street this morning. Initial findings point to defective wiring as the origin in the attic stairs. Furniture and wearing apparel were stored in the attic and water and smoke damaged second floor furnishings. Firemen chopped holes in the roof to reach flames as the attic burned fiercely. Mise Virginia DeVol was the only family member in Lebanon at the time. Mr and Mrs DeVol are staying at the Terrace Inn in Bay View, Michigan.
