The Memorial Park Board chaired by Sam Wilcox Fred Siess and Elmer Stark set Sunday June 16 for the park opening weather permitting If rain the event will move to the following Sunday The opening also starts the band concert season with no contracts signed yet for bands but expected within a week The park sees heavy countywide attendance with concerts a popular draw Playground equipment is ready no new gear planned Legion will operate refreshment stand The Fourth of July celebration and auto show are planned by the Legion drawing visitors from across the state The former tourist camp has moved to the park’s northwest corner with improvements for campers The grounds are landscaped with new beds and shrubs Lebanon still hopes to establish a swine pool for youth but the project remains under consideration.
