Mrs Petty and daughter injured in Indianapolis crash
Mrs Lauren Petty and her daughter Doris Petty, former residents of the county, were struck by a car near the speedway in Indianapolis last Thursday and remain in St. Vincent's hospital. Doris regained consciousness Sunday night, showing improvement but remains critical. Lauren Petty suffered severe injuries including a fractured right arm, jaw and cheekbone, and most of her front teeth knocked out.

John Vor Taw sixty years old an insane patient was shot and killed by Marion Captain James Thompson near Rigdos as he rode to Central Hospital for the Insane in Indianapolis. Thompson said Vor Taw drew a revolver and tried to shoot him, so he fired to save his life. Accompanying officials included George M. Coon Grant county prosecuting attorney and William Small owner of the automobile.
