The Kentucky Democratic state convention in Lexisiox debated free coinage of silver, with Blackburn and Hardin leading the silver faction. Aims were to unite districts for silver, contest Fifth district seats, and push for a solid Kentucky delegation to Chicago. Hardin urged unity, while Blackburn's group pressed for policy to back the silver cause and oppose the money power.
