ASC Office Predicts 114000 In Aid To Tornado Farms
Boone County received disaster funds on June 1, 1965 to aid farm disaster victims per W F Saylor, Chairman of the Boone ASC County Committee. Immediate payments are available to eligible farmers with proper evidence. those who submitted evidence received checks yesterday. After the Palm Sunday tornado, farmers applied for cost share assistance to rehabilitate land and under the emergency provision of the Agriculture Conservation Program these applications are now eligible for payment.

Johnson urges end of silver in dimes and quarters
President Johnson asked Congress to remove silver from current 10 and 25 cent coins and to cut silver in half dollars by more than half. New dimes and quarters would be copper nickel three layer coins with a dark edge ring, while half dollars would be nearly indistinguishable from now. He warned the Treasury could run out of silver in about three years if mint usage continues, risking higher prices and possible coin melting that could disrupt commerce.
