Council Accepts Optional Light Rate Plan in Lebanon
By a four to three vote the Lebanon City Council approved adopting the optional schedule of electric rates from Public Service Co of Indiana. The Public Service Commission must approve before it takes effect, but the plan can be discarded with notice. The city will save about $9,523 annually, with a $2,000 cut by reducing street lighting from 600 to 400 candle-power. The plan is optional for consumers. roughly 75 percent of residents would see a saving, while some commercial users remain on the old rate. Mayor Perkins supported the plan as a compromise likely to yield quicker relief than a protracted fight.

Brothers Injured In Auto Truck Collision Near Lebanon
Two Sherman brothers, Richard and Samuel Sherfey of Madison Indiana, were injured when their Ford roadster collided with a large freight truck on State Road 52 near the second bridge north of Lebanon Thursday night. Richard suffered severe facial and hand wounds with a crushed left elbow that may require amputation and will be hospitalized for an extended period. Samuel sustained minor cuts and bruises and was discharged. The Ford was badly damaged and the truck rolled into the ditch.

Youth questioned in extortion plot linked to film star

Two Hendricks county youths ages 18, John Roe and Paul Delona, were jailed in Boone County pending arraignment on forgery charges after police stopped them in Jamestown following pursuit of an alleged forged check at Pyle Department store.
