Slaying Of Warden Tied To Orthodox Muslim Order
Two inmates at Holmesburg prison, Frederick Burton and Joseph Bowen, allegedly received orders from Orthodox Muslims to kill Deputy Warden Fromhold after he refused more time for prayer meetings. Warden Curran and Fromhold were fatally stabbed, a captain injured. leaders denied the inmates acted as Muslims.

Final Local Option Score Sees 61 Counties Oppose Tax
Hoosiers in 31 counties would pay a local income tax after July 1 but the final tally shows 61 counties including the largest chose against the levy. Hancock and Crawford counties voted Friday night as deadlines loomed with Hancock approving the 1 percent rate and Crawford rejecting the tax. The local option tax was part of a 1973 tax restructuring aimed at property tax relief, with counties keeping until July 1 to decide for 1974 income. Meanwhile Gov Dunn’s office received a quirky request from Alabama a fifth grader asked for a big book of girls in bekenies and many other items.
Colombian hijackers escape as plane lands in Argentina
Two masked hijackers who seized a Colombian airliner jumped from the aircraft near Buenos Aires after a 4 day, four-nation odyssey. Pilot Hugo Molina said the men fled at Resistencia 630 miles north, after demanding ransom and prisoner releases. Passengers were allowed to disembark at Aruba and Lima, with some crew leaving earlier in Mendoza.

Indiana Vietnam bonus forms ready by mid June
Indiana veterans affairs director announces forms for the Vietnam bonus will be available around June 15.
