Motorbike Collides With School Bus Injuring Rider
A 16 year old Lebanon student was treated for bruises and lacerations after his motorbike rammed the front of a school bus near North East and North Meridian streets. The rider, Carlton Evans, in fair condition, was taken to Witham Hospital. Bus driver Bill Williams reported he did not see the motorcycle in time. Damage to the Yamaha was about 200 dollars. no citations were issued.

U S jets conducted 68 missions against North Viet Nam supply areas and transport facilities after two days of record raids. Two F105s and a F4C Phantom were shot down with three crewmen missing or dead. Raids hit near Dong Hoi Vinh Hanoi and Mu Gia Pass. Ground war casualties fell with 87 Americans killed 605 injured and two missing. Communist losses 1 173 killed and 197 captured. South Korean Australian and South Vietnamese losses totaled 240 killed and 55 missing.

A damage suit over land condemned for SR 334 near Boone ended with a settlement of 11 500 in Boone Superior Court. Appraisers had valued 3.2 acres taken from the 85 acre Schooler farm at 20 500, while prior to construction the state offered 5 500. The court noted damages applied to Olive Schooler jointly owned land. the remaining farm could not claim. Boone County skywatchers reported a sun corona caused by atmospheric vapor near noon and a bright satellite seen in the north sky over two nights. Observers tracked the object near the north star and near the Big Dipper, while some residents sought glimpses of the Ranger moon landing, which could not be seen from this location.
