Plans for the 11th annual Little Miss Boone County Contest are underway as Zonta Club sponsors the July 4th Festival. Thirty entrants will be chosen by random drawing from entries due by June 10. Contestants must be Boone County residents four or five years old, with out-of-town judges viewing swimsuits then dresses. Anessa Hendry will crown a successor.

No suspects found in alleged rape and kidnaping in Boone
No suspects have been found nor arrests made in connection with the alleged rape and kidnaping of two Thorntown girls. One victim Eliane Youkey, 18, was believed abducted but reportedly went voluntarily to Canada. A 17 year old girl involved said they were taken by four men in a car on Main Street Thorntown and raped in Hazelriot. Four men matching descriptions were stopped in Angola but released after Youkey turned herself to Canadian authorities.
