Indiana will replace letter prefixes with county numerals on license plates starting next year. A two tier fee structure of 8 and 12 dollars begins Jan 1 for passenger vehicles, with 8 dollars for under 25 horsepower. Each county receives a numeric prefix from Adams to Whitley, and the 34 counties use two-digit or multi-digit prefixes, some with extra digits for larger counties like Lake and Marion.
