The Reporter announces an Everyholy Wins $5,000 prize drive urging readers to nominate candidates. Campaign staff in the Reporter building answer questions and accept nominations daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with phone support available at the listed number.
A Port-au-Prince speed constable reports a near disaster on the Vandalia line near Darling Creek. The bridge trestle shifted as a freight train crossed, many ties broken, cars derailed but no serious injuries. wrecking crews rushed to the scene and the engine drew the train to Terre Haute.
Milledgeville hosts a homecoming with a program featuring Rev Chiwson and local singers Laelia Scher and Maybelle Rowt4. Attendees will share a meal, hear speakers, and later a congregation garden sale, with events around 2:00 PM.
Evening services will be at 7 30 at the church led by Reverend J S Clawsor pastor. Everyone is invited to these services and to spend the day.
Young librarians from Center Township schools were hosted by the Public Library at the Colonial Theatre yesterday afternoon. They watched Little Lord Fauntleroy then enjoyed refreshments and prize distributions. Emily Shepard won first prize for book circulation with several others receiving prizes.

John Motherhead, an inmate at the county infirmary, counted vehicles passing the county farm on Decoration Day. He started at dawn and others relieved him at meals. By sunset a total of 3,000 cars had passed the county farm.

Miss Ethel Orear will be employed as instructor in primary work at the Danville Normal College this summer. She was called unexpectedly yesterday morning to Danville to accept the position, tendered unsolicited. Miss Orear is regarded as one of the state’s best primary teachers and has been placed at the Harney building in the city.

Washington June 1 Injection of the soldiers bonus into the senate legislative tangle kept Republican leaders divided over whether to side track the tariff for the bonus or push the bonus after the tariff is disposed of. In St Louis on June 1 a desperate dash to save her child ends fatally for Mrs Bessie Adame aged 26 and her 18 month old son. A speeding express train struck them as they crossed the tracks in an apparent bid to snatch the child.
Three men who robbed the Meta Mora bank in Lapeer locked the cashier in the vault and fled with 6500 dollars. Surrounded by hundreds of armed farmers in a swamp at Davison Lake eight miles from the scene, authorities received alarms from the bank prompting marshalled groups from nearby cities to converge and end the confrontation.

Trustees consider a two story nurses' home 30 by 46 feet north of the current building with a basement laundry and five rooms on each floor. Miss Willadeen Price resigns as County Extension Librarian in Rochester Fylton County to join Carnegie Library as assistant librarian. The community and Boone County express pleasure at her return, noting her long service and extent in library work.
