PROP BRIGGS DEFEATED AT SESSION BY STRONG VOTE
In a narrow session roll call the New York presbytery appeal against Briggs was sustained in part by a strong majority. Rev McDougall of Cincinnati opened fierce opposition. Briggs supporters argued for the defense of his theories as the assembly weighed the long dispute and concluded with a decisive vote against the Briggs appeal.
