Fire destroys Witt grain elevator in Lebonon chaos and heroism
Thursday night fire destroyed J. W. Witt's No. 2 grain elevator on South West Street near the Big Four railroad. Strong winds spread flames to nearby buildings, but firemen and volunteers saved the livery barn and other structures amid extreme heat. Witt insured for 4,000 with damage around 5,000. origin suspected incendiary.

Horse Show Judge to Miss Engagement After Accident
L W Cochran of Crawfordsville was to judge yesterdays horse show but a car accident near Danville forced cancellation. He and his wife were bruised and shaken. Mrs Cochran suffered chest injuries but no broken bones. Eyewitnesses called their escape marvelous as the car backed over an embankment on a hill near the soldiers home.

Thieves Steal Near Crawfordsville Report
The Crawfordville Journal reports two horse thieves took a horse from George May’s colored-owned barn and a buggy from John A. Smith’s barn between midnight and daybreak. The horse is valued at 200 with the buggy at 190. A $50 reward is offered for arrest and recovery. Marshall Prewitt and local telegraphic efforts are assisting.

Stolen brown mare sixteen hands high with heavy bone and 1200 pounds was taken. Footstep clipped and one forehoof with a wire cut. Buggy with four-wheel design and red fittings, right shaft repaired. Owners two miles south on Greencastle road pursued leads through Lebanon and Indianapolis. Thieves likely knew the owners and the land.
Thorntown Men Purchase Motorcycles for Rural Mail Routes
The Thorntown Times reports four local men including Virgil Reese Owen Curry and Warl Reeves will receive Wagner motorcycles with tandem attachments today. The machines boast a mile in twenty two seconds and are expected to speed mail delivery with routes starting around 7 am.
