He was repairing a reed wire torn from a pole during Sunday’s storm, climbing a tree near the Roy W. Adney home on Indianapolis Avenue when damp wood conducted the live current. Captain Claude Crooks says Battery C 189th Field Artillery is ready for annual camp with most members having camp experience. The unit is nearing maximum strength as fifteen applicants were turned away, with promotions among staff and a plan for a seven car train to transport 38 soldiers plus the band and drum corps to Camp Knox on August 2. The 89th Field Artillery Band has grown into a leading state ensemble under War rant Officer James Hoy, and drill pay for early 1922 is funded for six months. Cap Crooks will distribute 37 among enlistees or drill attendees.
