Kirklin postoffice robbed last night by two strangers seen in town. They forced a lock using a hammer and brace and bit, stole five dollars in stamps and one dollar in cash, and drove away in a horse and buggy from J M Russell’s barn. Horace Stephenson is postmaster. third break in as many years.
A horse, rubber Urephaeton and a skin robe were stolen last night from Robert Stephenson’s barn east of Lebanon. The Detective Company issued warnings and dispatched handbills to trace the property. Descriptions include a large dark bay or light brown horse about 15 hands high, white markings, six years old, weighing 1500 to 1660 pounds, hitched to a black rubber-tired phaeton with a nearly new right hind wheel and a red line on spokes. A $50 reward for the vehicle and $15 for arrest and conviction of the thief. Contact Lebanon No. 7 Phones.
Rushville faced a short reign of terror after a series of robberies, a saloon was set on fire, and Frank Wolcott a local druggist narrowly survived a robber’s gunfire. Three homes were entered and the culprits may have fled as dawn returned and police scoured the town.
A frigid front is forecast to move into the area within 36 hours. The forecast calls for temperature drops to near 69 or below by Wednesday, with the Bureau warning of a sharp downslide in morning and evening highs across the region.

Noblesville Gas and Improvement company purchased from John Crou a long abandoned gas well revived by cleaning. Drilled eighteen years ago it produced strong gas initially but pressure declined and it was abandoned. After cleaning, pressure reached 195 pounds per square foot, near the original strength, with gas to be piped into mains soon.
Grover S. Brinley of Zionsville declared insane and sent to the Central Hospital for the Insane at Indianapolis. He is 21, married, and imagines himself a shrewd business man who could grow rich from chickens. He has a perverted sense of values, lacks truth, and has shown dangerous, homicidal tendencies.
Hiland Hiland and Bertha Reed were married in Gatardxy city by Rev. C. C. Wilson. Both are esteemed young people with many friends offering congratulations and best wishes.
Mrs Nancy Wheeler pioneer resident of the county dies at her brother Tom Jones home in Marion township. She is about ninety years old and had been gradually failing. She leaves three children and three brothers.

Tokyo January 28. Foreign Minister Viscount Hayashi answered Diet interpellations detailing Japan’s foreign policy. He stated that emigration negotiations with Canada have been settled and that concessions in talks with the United States were within sight, outlining the government’s stance.
Mrs. Wheeler widow of Judson Wheeler, aged elder in the Jones family, died after years of cat ailments in Marion township. Survived by daughters Mrs. John West, Mrs. Bird Jarett, Ben Wheeler, and three Jones brothers Tom, John, and Dec Jones. Baptists for years, aunt to Mrs. C. C. Tansel and Mrs. Frank Long. Funeral at Antioch church Wednesday 1 p.m. with interment at Jones cemetery.
Charles Nelson, 35, formerly of Montgomery County, died in a fire at a timber camp in Auburn California. He had left home about ten years ago to work in Brown's Valley. He was unmarried.
Irene Abbott widow of the late Edward Abbott died this afternoon at two o clock at the home of her daughter in this city. She was 93 and mother of Mrs. J. M. Knox and Mrs. Pannie Adams. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
Judge Artman names Elliott M. Smith of Jefferson township and William L. Powell of this city to the County Board as members. Other positions and titles appear in the appointment notice.
A North Lebanon street party hosted by Misses Biane and Grace Sorat entertained Mrs Letha Parr Hooton with a surprise shower of gifts including cut glass, china, silver and linen. Guests joined in a baby-picture guessing contest won by Mrs Martin Henry, followed by a luncheon, matinee dance, repast, and an evening with eight bridge club girls and eight visiting boys.
An organized movement against prohibition grows in New York. Brewers and dealers in brewers supplies back the drive, forming the Manufacturers and Dealers' Club of Greater New York and sending circulars to firms in the Grand Central area. A national federation is planned as local groups expand nationwide. Distillers Securities Corp notes reduced beer demand boosts stronger beverages.
Noblesville Indiana January 23 Republicans of Noblesville township held a convention to select delegates to the congressional and joint senatorial conventions. D A R Tucker the only Hamilton county candidate for Congress praised the delegates as well chosen and reported thirty of thirty five pledged to him with five promising support if chances remain favorable.
The United Brethren cottage prayer meeting invites all to the pastor's home at 229 West Walnut Street on Tuesday evening January 28. A feature prayer meeting is planned Wednesday at the same location, with additional services at the church Thursday and Friday evening by Elder Mater of Crawfordsville Indiana. The quarterly meeting follows Friday’s services.
City council met briefly for about fifteen minutes approving a damage claim by W. R. Fares for 25 dollars after release docs. awarded plumbers license to Jasper W. Campbell. and authorized numerous small street and water works bills totaling several hundred dollars.
