Pittsboro special reports Englehart George Buergelin died at his home aged twenty seven. Born in 1831 he arrived in the United States in 1849 living in Ohio and Kentucky before moving to Belleville Indiana in 1858 where he married Lucinda Reitzel. The couple moved to Pittsboro in 1857 and he had lived there since. His wife died ten years ago. He leaves three sons and two daughters.

Born near Reynoldsville Franklin County 1842 he served in the Civil War with the 106th Indiana then with Sherman’s march to the sea. He led Columbus schools for over twenty years and later founded a private school at Rushville. In 1891 he was elected superintendent of the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Orphans Home.
